Yes You Can Shoot A Story With A Flip Camera

I've done television news for most of my career. So seeing a news videographer carrying a heavy camera and tripod is common. Several digital journalists say they have experimented shooting an entire news story with a Flip camera.

I came across this video blog by a citizen journalist.  She explains in a few easy steps how the Flip camera can be your friend on assignment.  Sure there are limitations to using a Flip camera, but then it's up to you to decide when to use one.

I don't know about shooting an entire news story with a Flip camera, but I do know where it would come in handy.  I was thinking of some past assignments where it would have helped out.I have covered riots and gang shootings.

When you show up and pull out the big television camera---all eyes are on you, and that can be rather dangerous when you're at a crime scene.  I think this would be a perfect time to pull the Flip cam out of your bag and get some quick video and soundbites, and not feel like you're in any danger.

Check out this citizen journalist. It's a simple how-to-video, but worth a lot of good information.  Her information is also good if you want to become a video blogger.
